About him
If you're looking for a perfect physical specimen then I'm afraid I'm only going to disappoint you, but if you've always dreamed of having a skeletally thin, prematurely greying, short-sighted, hearing-impaired, limping partner, then read on because I am clearly ideal for you.
I'm a great nature lover - that can mean very long walks (anything from 20 to 50 miles, although the aforementioned limp can become a bit of a problem) but doesn't have to... strolling through a wood, around a lake, by a river or along a clifftop is a wonderfully refreshing experience regardless of distance or speed. Very much not of the school of thought that walking has to be up a mountain in a national park - you can enjoy it almost anywhere; there are many lovely routes in urban areas. Will always stop to read an information board and learn something about the nature or history of the area!
With nature come animals - the amount of time I spend away from home has prevented me keeping my own, but I'll often be found petting farm animals at a sanctuary or feeding the ducks at my local pond.
I live surrounded by books - I don't stick to a particular genre or author, I just read whatever interests me. Might be history, science, travel, global affairs, sport...
I travel as much as I can - when not actually doing so, I treasure the memories of past trips and look forward to future ones. I like to get off the beaten track where possible - the best adventures usually happen in the most obscure places!
I'm a bit of a trivia nut/quizzer and tend to drop completely random facts into conversations... did you know that Liechtenstein is a major exporter of false teeth?
The rest of the time I can usually be found playing the French horn (badly) in a local amateur orchestra. My idea of an evening out is a concert or play; for a day trip I'd go to a museum or historic site.
Currently divide my time between Birmingham and London.
